Google Street View Dundalk & DKIT Parking

I didn’t know about this, it was said that only a few locations were going to be mapped in Ireland and Dundalk was not on that list. However they must have changed their minds because the Google Street View car has been spotted in a few places around Dundalk over the past few weeks

Here is the Google car in Dundalk mapping the street: Tom Bellew Avenue, last week
It’s a bit of a hazy image but sure I couldn’t find it anywhere on the internet so I had to scan the picture from the newspaper ![]()

I wonder how long it takes before Irelands street images are uploaded, I know there is some up of Belfast but that is part of the UK, so far none of the Irish roads have been added. I know it will take them a few months to blend all their images together, so it will be interesting when they finally launch Irelands street view pictures
I wonder if they are going to map all the different housing estates, I assume they would because they have done in other countries. It will be mental to see my house up on Street View

It also looks like DKIT will be at some time, phasing out the free parking spaces available in there on-campus parking lots. They have applied for a new staff car park so that they can move there current staff car park from where it is currently located to over by the Carrolls building. Maybe they will keep the old one too and give it out to the students
DKIT requested 300 new spaces however they were only given 150, i wonder why, they clearly need a hell of a lot of spaces, and since the parking spaces are not very visible from the road, you would think they would of been granted the parking spaces.
