Ever hear of a ‘macropinna microstoma barreleye’ fish?

Chances are you havent heard of this fish, the photo above was released on February 23,2009 but was taken  in 2004. These fish were discovered years ago,the year 1939 to be exact! The reason that not much has been said about this fish from 1939 to now was because the only thing they knew about this fish was  from the mangled specimens dragged to the surface by fish-nets.

The green lens at the top each of the fish’s eyes filter out the sunlight that makes it down from the surface, this is so that it can focus more on its prey. The barreleye fish can be found 2,000 feet below sea level, the water that deep is extremely dark and would be hard to see in this is why the little light that makes it to this fish’s eyes are blocked out so it can focus more. The barreleye fish is a harmless fish.
