Last Thursday I said I would be getting the new Kinect add-on for the Xbox, as well as buying a new Xbox console. That didn't happen. There are a few reasons for this, the first is that a friend of mine is organising getting me the console so I will be able to save some money on it, he is currently out of town so once he comes back I will be getting it, which hopefully will be tomorrow, Friday. I was looking forward to getting it on Wednesday, but now, to be honest I don't mind waiting a little. The reason I don't mind waiting is that even if I had of got Kinect on Wednesday I wouldn't of being able to use it as I have just finished off my weeks holidays from work and am now back working 5 days a week, straight after college! So I would have little time to get around to play it. Like tonight I didn't finish work until 11pm, that is just how busy we are, its Christmas season, I am putting up trees in November! its normal for me, but many think it's far too early. I am just used to it! So hopefully I will get Kinect tomorrow, it would be great because I am actually off work tomorrow :D ,  tomorrow is the second of my two days a week I have to get off :).

A free alternative to Dreamweaver

I was asked lately for a program that could be used to build a low end website, just something quick. I usually would use Dreamweaver or a text based editor such as textpad but this person wanted an alternate to Dreamweaver and free! After a while of looking around I found a great program which is free and powered by Mozilla! The program is called KompoZer and I downloaded it and gave it a quick try out. I managed to make a quick website with pictures internal and external links and also adding the likes of tables. This was just with a quick 5 minutes of looking around. You can do a lot more with it such as create stylesheets and the program allows for code and design editing views and also has a preview section of what your site looks like. It is a great program, especially for free! And if you have used Dreamweaver before you will see some similarities in KompoZer. If you want to download it you can go to the site here.

Kinect – why are we waiting?

Xbox Kinect officially comes out today in America and we here in Ireland have to wait another week for it to be released which is next Wednesday (November 10th). It's kind of ridiculous if you ask me! Nowadays you would think that they would have a worldwide launch instead of incremental launches. I am really looking forward to the date it is coming out, I am thinking get it in the morning, and perhaps take the day off college, sounds good! Yes? of course it does :) , it won't matter too much anyway because on Wednesday I only have 2 hours of actual lectures and they are boring to say the least! I have decided that I will also invest in a new Xbox while I am at it, my current  Xbox is 4 years old and I am actually really surprised that it has lasted this long! I figure I might as well shell out the extra bit of money and get the new console, I will be getting extra hard disc space, which is really useful now that you can buy games and films from Xbox Live and it also gives me the assurance that it won't be breaking anytime soon. I am still unsure as to what I will be doing with my old one. I am also thinking of buying 1 or 2 games for Kinect when I get it too, I know 1 comes with it but I can imagine it will become boring / repetitive if I play the same game over and over again! So next Wednesday, it's  going to be a great day, and if there is a midnight launch, sure I may even go to that! Anyone else going to be getting Kinect or already has Kinect, what are your thoughts on it?
