Now Is The Time To Begin The Work
Posted by: Sean | Posted on: July 10th, 2009 | 0 Comments

As you can see in the picture above I have put my music video / entertainment site into a maintenance state. Now if anyone decides to pop over to www.entertainmentclam.com they will just be simply greeted by this little splash screen.
I have wanted to get around to upgrading that site for a long time and now that I have moved it from my old server to my new one I think that it would be an appropriate time to temporarily shut it down so that I can start to get a move on with the re-construction of the site. I want to first off upgrade the version of the software that was on the site. The version I was using was not the latest so I am taking this opportunity get around to sorting that out.
I also want to make a nice looking site that nobody else has, I know that this is a really huge task for me to undertake, but I want to put myself under some pressure, I want more pressure to learn more about web design, I have been lacking in web development over the past few weeks.
So now in my spare time, or basically whenever I am not at work, I will be devoting my time to the 'EntertainmentClam' website, I might decide to post a few status updates to this blog to let everyone know what I am getting up to. Also I will definitely be using its twitter account a lot over the next while and may be looking for some help on certain problems I might run into. So if you are on twitter, pop on over and follow the entertainmentclam! @entertainmentc .
The code that is running on the 'EntertainmentClam' is the most complex code that I have ever worked with, it usually takes me 10 times longer to get something done, I want to be able to get work on it faster so I am going to try and study how the main features work so I can navigate through the code at a fairly quick pace.
Another thing I want to get done is to try and make a nice new logo for the site, the one that was on it looked ok, but is just not what I am looking for, so that will be another challenge for me as I am not too good with graphic design!
Wide Variety Of Twitter Tools

There are so many twitter services available now you can never make up your mind on which one you want to use, some have features that others do not so you tend to use quite a few.
Here are two of my favorite twitter related tools:
The first is called: TweetBeepWith TweetBeep you just sign up for an account and add a keyword that you want to track on twitter, so whenever someone talks about a topic and include the word you are tracking you will be notified about it through e-mail. You receives updates hourly, and only get them if someone mentions your keyword, no spam is sent to you so that is great ![]()

If you own a business then TweetBeep can be very useful for you, all you have to do is track your business name and you find out who is talking about your business. Its great because if people find problems with your business you could quickly leap into action to resolve these problems before they escalate any further.
The second twitter tool i like is called: Twitterholic

With Twitterholic you can find out where you stand in twitter in rank. You can see graphs that represent the increase or decrease in your follower count. It shows you where you rank on twitterholic in relation to other users and also tells you where you rank in your current location, for me i rank second in my location.
The best thing is that you do not have to sign up to see these stats so that means less useless e-mails coming to your account. I done a quick search on Twitterholic to see where one of my other sites, TheEntertainmentClam, ranks. To my amazement i ranked 15th in the whole of Ireland, not bad! I was expecting it to be way lower than that and didnt expect to make it on the top 100 twitterers of Ireland. I even am above sites such as The Irish Times (A Newspaper) and a few of the BBC and RTE twitter accounts, great news for me

I just thought i would leave a quick post to show everyone the site i have been working on lately. It has lots of content, from music video's to TV-Shows to Documentaries (Hosted on DocumentaryWire) and Music. I have been working on getting lots of content on it lately and i plan to have at least 5 times the amount on it by this time next week, which will be a lot of work to do.
So my new site is: The EntertainmentClam
