Toy Story 3

Posted by: Sean | Posted on: July 21st, 2010 | 0 Comments

toy story 3 posterYesterday night I went to see toy story 3 in the cinema, and I think it was definitely worth the wait. Toy story 3 was released in America over a month ago, but here in Ireland we had to wait until this week, just to see it! You could easily of found the film online or gone down to a market and bought a bootleg version of it, but I thought it would be worth waiting for the film to come out here and go and see it in 3d! Cartoon films are always the best in 3d, they are always great quality as it takes so long to make a cartoon film, the creators always pull out all the stops when it comes to making the 3d experience. Toy story 3 is hilarious from start to finish, even watching the credits is funny! There  is also the odd tear moment in the film, but the 3d glasses hides it most of the time! ;) I think toy story 3 is probably the best one so far I really liked the first toy story but the second one is nothing compared to the first or third.

People seemed to be really happy with the film, because there was a sudden huge outburst of everyone clapping at the end of it! How many films do you go and see that gets a reaction like that? I was laughing the whole way through the film, if you haven't seen the film yet, then you should definitely go and see it! One of the funiest parts of the film is the spanish Buzz! ( making of spanish Buzz below ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwON8qNTfyQ I have noticed that Pixar now create short cartoon skits before their films now, these are hilarious. Below is the making of the small skit they had before Toy Story 3, the skit was titled "Day & Night". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFEE-Jgr7sw Below is a trailer for Toy Story 3, just in case you haven't seen one for it already! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_FfHA5whXc

Went To See Fast And Furious

Posted by: Sean | Posted on: April 15th, 2009 | 0 Comments

Tonight i went to see the new Fast And Furious film. I liked the film, it turned out better than i thought it might of. It has basically gone back to the original storyline, its less like the third film and is more like a continuation of the first. The third film 'Tokyo Drift' was really overboard, i enjoyed it but not the best at all.

In this new film its full of action. I like the way the cars are not all out with the paint work, i prefer it when the cars actually look normal and not like a 'boy racer' car, when you put stupid colours and racing stripes on a car i think it makes it look cheap.

Also Vin Diesel is back in this film, i think all of Vin Diesel's films are great, and to have him back in this film makes it more interesting. And once again it looks like they have left the film open for another, although there is no word if there will be, there will still be an opening if they decide to make one.

The only problem i had with the film was that the night i decided to go on was student night, which although its great since i get a discount i forgot the fact that everyone decides to go that night and i ended up having to sit at the very front row where you basically have to slouch back in the seat to be able to see the film, even though my seat was terrible i still enjoyed the film.

Check out the trailer below, it looks great.

YouTube Redesign

Posted by: Sean | Posted on: April 2nd, 2009 | 2 Comments

On April 16th there will be a new design released for YouTube.  The reason that they have decided to change YouTube is so that they can better monitize there site and catch up to industy standards.  The major thing that will change on YouTube now will be the menu bar, they are completly changing how you navigate the site, they are doing away with the current menu bar and will be replacing it with one that will closely resemble the Hulu menu bar.

hulumenubar

Instead of having Videos, Channels & Community they will now have four tabs: Movies, Music, Shows and Videos. The first threee tabs are going to have premium content , just like hulu, which will offer tv-shows and movies, although YouTube have yet to announce what they will be broadcasting in these sections, they say that they are in the process of setting out new contracts.

Also in the final tab 'Videos' this will house the current YouTube as you know it, they are cramming all there current content into that tab, so all user created content will now be under the video tab away from the main public view, this is YouTube trying to break free from there current trend of amateur and semi-professional videos.

And now the videos will be interrupted for in-video ads, just like hulu. And the video player should be receiving a new design, much like that too of hulu which will offer you the option to 'dim the lights', this is when the background page is darkend and the focus is directed more to the video, YouTube have been experimenting with this over the previous months and it has been popping up on certain videos. Also the video timeline will display little lines to show where the ads will be showing throughout the video.

The release of this was originally scheduled for next week but has been pushed back to April 16th, there was no explanation given on why this was done but it is thought that it is due to ongoing negociations with potential partners.

This new upgrade is considered the "Hulification Of Youtube", very true since most of the changes are coming from design techniques that hulu use. I think it is about time that they are going all out with YouTube now however i think that they might end up neglecting there current customer base more and focus on premium content, now they are really just thinking of there pockets and not there online community. Hopefully the premium videos they add will not be limited to the US, like hulu do, hopefully YouTube will make them available throught the rest of the world.
