A bit of a catch-up

It has been a while now since my last post so I thought I would say what I have been getting up to.
My last post was about fixing a few computer's for some people I know, I now finally have them fully fixed, I had intended on getting them all fixed and out of the way in one day however I ran into a big problem with fixing the laptop, I think this will merit its own blog post so that will be up in a few days.
Last month (March) was actually a really good month for me on this blog, I managed to get a lot more posts up than normal, last month I made 11 blog posts, may not seem like a lot for a whole month but when compared to previous months, it is a big improvement. The 4 months prior to March November 2009 - February 2010 had the same amount of posts combined as last month :D .
This month, April, I intend to keep up with some regular blog posts, I have a few ideas lined up and have drafted them so I won't forget about them! I find it easier in the long run to know what I want to say.
Later this month I will be setting myself a challenge! By setting myself a challenge I know I will have to keep at it and it will result in more blog posts going up also :D!
I have also recently really become addicted to messing about with my iPod Touch so I will be making a post about my favourite apps that I have.
Also I am working with Photoshop to design a website, now my design skills are not brilliant but I think with using Photoshop I can get what I want and then just create the rest with some css.
jQuery is also something new that I have had a look into recently, it is very complex to understand in my opinion, but there is so much that can be done with it, I hope to use a bit more of it in a website I am building at the moment. Once I have completed the site I am working on I will be sure to put it up here on my blog.
Dreamweaver – getting to grips

Currently i have a fair bit of website work lined up. I really like getting work like this; it gives me a chance to get to grips with what i have learned from college or what i have learned by myself.
There is no point going to college and not trying to continue to progress your knowledge while you are off on holidays. Now that i will be starting back at college next week, i will have website code fresh in my head, so i will be able to get to grips with anything new that we learn this year.
The work i have been doing throughout the summer and still now requires me to use the likes of Photoshop and Dreamweaver. I never really used these programs too much until only recently and i really do like them.
I find that the more i use them, i seem to find more and more things that can be done with them that makes life easier when editing a website, especially if you have to make a huge gallery for a site, the template feature works great there :D .
Playing About With Photoshop

Tonight i spent a few hours trying out different brushes and fonts and trying to get to grips with a few of the features that are in photoshop. I am not too good when it comes to the likes of photoshop, i know design is a very big part to do with building websites. If you can go to someone and quote them a price for a website you want to be able to say i can design and code it for 'X' amount of money. You dont want to have to say well i can code it but you need someone else to design it, sure it would be ok to do that but it would look better if you could provide the full package when choosing to build a website for someone.
This is why i want to be able to use photoshop, so i can slowly learn how to do a few simple things that would really help out with the appearence of a website, such as nice glossy logos or banners. You can in fact design a full website template using photoshop, this would require a lot of work.
I went looking for some nice fonts and brushes tonight and found a few good sites with loads of different font types and brush types to choose from.

For some really great brushes i went to a website called Brusheezy, they have loads of brushes and patterns that you can download for free.

And for fonts i went to a site called ReFont.com, this site has hundreds of different fonts that cover a wide variety of categories from horror and retro to gothic and calligraphy and a lot more, its great for getting loads of free fonts.
I am at the moment trying to design a header for TheEntertainmentClam, that will not only be a logo but will have a full background of images that will suit the content on the website also.
