As of today it is exactly one month to the launch day of Windows 7 :D ! Currently i have Windows XP installed and did not bother to upgrade to Windows Vista as i did not see any benefit from it, however that is not the case with Windows 7, i have actually purchased a copy of it. This is the first time i have ever bought an operating system. I hope that by upgrading to Windows 7 that i might get some extra performance out of my computer, it is not likely i will get a lot, i expect it to be in and around the current performance but it would be nice to get something out of the upgrade :D apart from the new OS look and feel and layout! I will be installing the OS as a clean install, as far i know that is the only way to install it in Europe, there is no upgrade version being offered. I usually manage to get the bulk of the work done in the first day, i will definitely have the old OS wiped and all the data formatted, and then i will also have Windows 7 installed. After that it is just loading on all programs that i used to have and getting down to finding out what is good, bad, new and different about Windows 7 ;) .

If you are currently a student in 2nd or 3rd level education then you are always looking for a deal when it comes to buying software. Most people that choose to study web development or multimedia want to have the best software that they can get. However the best out there is adobe and the prices are usually a ridiculas price.

If you are really considering buying some adobe products soon then you should chek out Software4Students.ie, they have loads of deals not just on adobe but on opertaing systems and microsoft products such as Excel & Word!

For example, if you are interested in buying the following products made by adobe:

-InDesign CS4 -Photoshop CS4 -Illustrator CS4 -Acrobat 9 Pro -Adobe Bridge CS4 -Adobe Device Central CS4 -Version Cue CS4

The above programs are included in the 'Adobe Design Standard CS4 Student Edition', this would usually retail for €1,541.84. That is a lot of money, and for a student you would rather buy a cheaper alternative, i know i would :D

adobe-cs4-04

But on the Software4Students website you can buy it for only €220. Now i bet you would never of expected such a great deal! So you would save €1,321.84, just because you are a student. All you have to do is prove you are in fact a student!

The product package above would be great for designing websites, mainly you would use photoshop and illustrator. Also if you want to code a website you can get dreamweaver for only €109.99, saving  €435.55!

I had heard about this site before through my college but never thought to go on it, but then today i heard it mentioned on twitter! So i decided i would check it out, then since you can save so much money i thought i would pass on the info :D

The adobe products are available at this price for MAC and Windows.

Google Chrome

Over the past few weeks i have started to use Google Chrome as my main internet browser, i decided to start using it more because it is really fast to open. Although i really like Firefox i will be using Chrome for the next while for the bulk of my browsing.

I will however still be using Firefox because i use it a lot when editing websites because of all the great plugins that i have that make problem solving with websites a breeze. I will never go back and use Microsoft's Internet Explorer and have not used it in about 2 years now.

I found that when watching some of the high definition videos in firefox it made the video jump when you try to play it when the video is still finishing off downloading. In chrome however i found that it plays seamlessly, i would assume this has to do with the fact that because Firefox uses so much memory compared to other applications, when you try to run a HD video it just becomes a little too much and since Chrome uses less memory it dosent find it as such a struggle to play the HD videos.

There are a few other reasons i switched to chrome, i like how much screen space i now have with this browser, i can see a lot more of the page which is great :D

There is one other time when i use all of my internet browsers, (Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer), i use them when i want to check to make sure that my website is displaying right in all the different browsers, because chances are when you are designing and using the one browser to check if it is looking ok, by time you come to finally check it when you are finished you will most likely find something that has broken in one of the different browsers because the code differs slightly from browser to browser.
