Currently i have a fair bit of website work lined up. I really like getting work like this; it gives me a chance to get to grips with what i have learned from college or what i have learned by myself.

There is no point going to college and not trying to continue to progress your knowledge while you are off on holidays. Now that i will be starting back at college next week, i will have website code fresh in my head, so i will be able to get to grips with anything new that we learn this year.

The work i have been doing throughout the summer and still now requires me to use the likes of Photoshop and Dreamweaver. I never really used these programs too much until only recently and i really do like them.

I find that the more i use them, i seem to find more and more things that can be done with them that makes life easier when editing a website, especially if you have to make a huge gallery for a site, the template feature works great there :D .

Playing About With Photoshop

Tonight i spent a few hours trying out different brushes and fonts and trying to get to grips with a few of the features that are in photoshop. I am not too good when it comes to the likes of photoshop, i know design is a very big part to do with building websites. If you can go to someone and quote them a price for a website you want to be able to say i can design and code it for 'X' amount of money. You dont want to have to say well i can code it but you need someone else to design it, sure it would be ok to do that but it would look better if you could provide the full package when choosing to build a website for someone.

This is why i want to be able to use photoshop, so i can slowly learn how to do a few simple things that would really help out with the appearence of a website, such as nice glossy logos or banners. You can in fact design a full website template using photoshop, this would require a lot of work.

I went looking for some nice fonts and brushes tonight and found a few good sites with loads of different font types and brush types to choose from.

brusheezy

For some really great brushes i went to a website called Brusheezy, they have loads of brushes and patterns that you can download for free.

refont

And for fonts i went to a site called ReFont.com, this site has hundreds of different fonts that cover a wide variety of categories from horror and retro to gothic and calligraphy and a lot more, its great for getting loads of free fonts.

I am at the moment trying to design a header for TheEntertainmentClam, that will not only be a logo but will have a full background of images that will suit the content on the website also.

Wireless Keyboard And Mouse

Posted by: Sean | Posted on: March 1st, 2009 | 0 Comments

Last month i finally got around to buying a wireless keyboard & mouse, up until then i had never bought a keyboard & mouse i just used the basic one that came with the computer.  I am glad i finally bought one though, they have so many extra buttons that you can customize, it really helps to increase getting things done while on the computer.

Microsoft's Wireless Keyboard & Mouse

This keyboard allows you to control your media player with the few buttons along the top of the keyboard, there is also 5 customizable buttons that you get to program, this too helps speed up things, it saves having to go looking for a program in the start menu. The 5 i have mine programmed to are:

There is also buttons along the side that open up folders such as 'My Music', 'My Documents' and 'My Pictures' and also a few programs like Firefox and iTunes. Also on the mouse there is a few extra features  there is two extra button's on the side of the mouse i just set these to copy and paste.

The only bad thing to do with this set is the size of the receiver, it is huge, there is no reason for it to be that big, other than that i have no problems with it.

I was surprised that Microsoft allowed you to set the media controls to control another media player other than there own 'Windows Media Player' which i hate!
