Today I had my second of my four exams this summer. This exam was in a subject called Professional Mentoring, and yes it is as boring as it sounds :D! This is a subject that I really do not care for, it is basically theory only, nothing challenging really in it, no maths required. Last night I spent about an hour or two looking over notes and slides for this exam, I didn't think I needed to do a whole lot of revision as there was not really much in the module. I felt that I knew enough for the exam, and it turns out I did. I managed to get my exam finished fairly early and I am confident that I have gotten enough to pass it. For this subject I am just looking for a pass nothing more really. So I am half way through my exams now and I don't have another exam until next Tuesday, so I have plenty of time to revise for it. I think that tomorrow I will just take it easy, no need to start studying straight away :D!

The Christmas exams have begun!

Today I sat my first Christmas Exam which was Database Management Systems. I feel that it went really good. I have almost already passed today’s exam as 50% of the marks can be achieved throughout the Semester. It feels great now knowing that I have one exam done and dusted and now I just have to focus on my remaining three.

My next exam is not until Wednesday, that exam is in Web Applications Development, that subject is all about websites, mainly Asp.net websites. That exam should be interesting, the lecturer I have for this subject is new to it! She has never taught it before so we have no previous exam papers to look over :( .

Then my final exam of this week ,Broadband Technologies, will be on Friday, the exam on Friday is my most difficult one in my opinion. I need to work really hard at this subject in order to pass it and hopefully I can achieve this.

I remember when I had to repeat an exam before, it is not a nice thing, and the exam I had to repeat was one I failed on my summer exams so I only had to wait a few weeks before I got the opportunity to repeat it so at least it was fresh in my head!

However if a Christmas exam is failed you have to wait until the end of the next semester for the repeat exams during the summer! Since in the second semester I will be doing different subjects than in first semester,by the time the repeat exam from christmas comes it will be dificult to revise for a subject from such a long time ago, failing any Christmas exams will not be an option. It is just too stressful having to repeat an exam!

So that will be three of my four exams out of the way, for the fourth exam ,Training and Support Services, I have to wait until the following week :( I would rather get them all out of the way in one week, but at least it gives me an opportunity to prepare for the exams.

I know a lot of other colleges here in Ireland give there exams out after Christmas, I feel that having the exams over before Christmas makes the Christmas period more enjoyable and relaxing :D .

Study Week

So this is the week before my exams begin. In total i will have 6 exams. They are spaced out over two weeks which is great because it leaves a gap of roughly 1 day between each exam. So this week, the week before the exams, there is no college :D

The reason there is no college is to give us a chance to prepare for the exams and cram, cram, cram! I always have the tendency to cram the night before. The likes of this study week i will be looking over my notes and getting ready for the exams, however i always find that i do my best studying the night before the exam. Usually this week will envolve me preparing my notes.

As it stands with my overall results so far, i reckon i should do alright in the final exams. This is because my classes are split into partial CA (Continuous Assessment) and partial exam based, which is next week. In most of my classes i have gotton really high CA results and i reckon that i have passed at least 2 exams already before i even go and sit the test next week:D This puts me at a bit more ease as i know that if i mess up on the test that i have allready passed and there will be no need to worry as much.

The last thing i want, is to fail any of my exams. Last summer i failed one of my exams and was forced to repeat it :( but the second time round i passed it :D This year however i intend to pass all my exams first time round and have my summer free to enjoy. And after all i have a lot planned for this summer with leaving the country a few times, so if i had to repeat an exam it would probably overlap with one of my trips out of Ireland which would be annoying.
