Online plans for the summer

the web outside websites

After next week, all my exams will be finished. For this summer, I have a few things online that I want to get done. The first is to get a website completed for a client, I have been working on this site on and off over the last while and I really should have completed it by now, however things always come up such as these exams and also content I needed for the site wasn't available at the time. Now however I can get the content for the site and I will get it finished. The week after my exams (Monday week, May 24th) I intend to begin this work. I should have it completed within two days, there is not a whole lot of work to be done on it, it's just as I said, finding the time to get it done. The next thing I want to get done is my new layout for this blog, I meant to get a new design up for April but just didn't get the time to do it. So I just made a few changes this month until I got the time to sort out a new design. I have been looking at different designs that I could work with to suit what I want, and now it is just a matter of picking the right one and making a few changes to make it my own ;). The next thing I want to do is a sort of small project, it is an idea I came up with a while ago and it will be semi community based and I hope to get it completed by the end of the summer. This small project is also targeted for the Irish market as I haven't seen it done here yet. I will say more on this project once I get it started. I also want to create a new design for my website I bought a while ago, it is one I am proud to of managed to get, SeanLucas.com is a domain I will always hold on to and I think it would benefit much more from getting a new design. I also have a little bit of competition in terms of Google Results for my name that I would like to beat :D! The final thing I want to get done this summer is a more long term project, this too revolves around a community of people, like a social network, but will require a lot of work to get completed so I don't expect it to be completed by this summer or even by the end of the year! For this project, I don't intend on saying much about it until I am happy with the way it is working out. This is more of a silent project of my own :). So these are the main things that I want to get done throughout the summer, there will probably be a few other things that I will do whenever I have some spare time, but this list is fine for now.

No new theme this month

Last month I said that I wanted to make a few changes to the current theme on my blog. I wanted to have these new changes made either to the existing theme or a new theme by this month (April), but I just haven't had a chance to get it done.

I do not want to rush my new theme, I want to enjoy making it so for that reason I am putting it off now until the summer. Summer will be here sooner than you would think, there is only about 6 weeks until I get my summer holidays :D .

Leateds.com - Snapshot

I am currently working away on a website for a hair salon in town here, so I am spending a fair bit of my time on that. Today I registered a .ie domain for it, usually when you try to register a .ie domain you are asked for proof of who you are and where you live and what you want to put up on your site, I remember doing that the last time, it was just so awkward!

However that is not the case if you are registering a .ie for a business, all you need to do is submit the business CRO (Companies Registration Office) number and you are on your way, it literally only took me 10 minutes to register and get the new .ie domain registered!

On a side note, if you are thinking of getting a .ie domain, now might be a good time to do it, Blacknight are having a sale on there .ie domains, I managed to register this new domain for €14.99 which is really cheap for a .ie domain, I got it from Blacknight.

A bit of a catch-up

It has been a while now since my last post so I thought I would say what I have been getting up to.

My last post was about fixing a few computer's for some people I know, I now finally have them fully fixed, I had intended on getting them all fixed and out of the way in one day however I ran into a big problem with fixing the laptop, I think this will merit its own blog post so that will be up in a few days.

Last month (March) was actually a really good month for me on this blog, I managed to get a lot more posts up than normal, last month I made 11 blog posts, may not seem like a lot for a whole month but when compared to previous months, it is a big improvement. The 4 months prior to March November 2009 - February 2010 had the same amount of posts combined as last month :D .

This month, April, I intend to keep up with some regular blog posts, I have a few ideas lined up and have drafted them so I won't forget about them! I find it easier in the long run to know what I want to say.

Later this month I will be setting myself a challenge! By setting myself a challenge I know I will have to keep at it and it will result in more blog posts going up also :D!

I have also recently really become addicted to messing about with my iPod Touch so I will be making a post about my favourite apps that I have.

Also I am working with Photoshop to design a website, now my design skills are not brilliant but I think with using Photoshop I can get what I want and then just create the rest with some css.

jQuery is also something new that I have had a look into recently, it is very complex to understand in my opinion, but there is so much that can be done with it, I hope to use a bit more of it in a website I am building at the moment. Once I have completed the site I am working on I will be sure to put it up here on my blog.
