A while back I noticed that on Windows Vista there was no Telnet, the reason for this is that telnet is not secure and they decided to leave it out because they were trying to update their level of security. In windows 7 itβs the same thing, it has no telnet.
I have now found out how to get telnet on windows vista and windows 7. It is really simple and is done like this:
- Open control panel.
- Then go into programs.
- Then in programs and features there should be a part that says ‘turn windows features on or off ‘ .
- Click ‘turn windows features on or off ‘ then on the list that appears simply check the box beside: Telnet Client.
- Then click ok.
Then it will simply work as normal. Hope this helps!
I also made a quick video of how this is done.
thnx…

Awesome. Thanks for this! I went ahead and turned off some other un-needed windows features. (I never knew this feature on/off existed) π
thanks… works like a charm
thanx! Worked great!
it worked..now i can do what i want…..haha
Thanks buddy, it was helping
thanq
Thanks
the above does not work because the “enable features” window reamins blank at all times. There is no way to enable telnet and GoDaddy are trying to tell me that this is essential for sending emails. I have no problems with any other provider.
The enable features window should fill with all the features including telnet, it works for everyone else, maybe you could try doing it as an administrator if you did not already try it.
You should check for Polyscript it’s a great telnet and ssh client specially for windows 7.
thanxs for the support

All of this because of the stupid-heads who sued Microsoft for “not being secure enough”!
I swear I waste more time getting around security “features” than I ever had to spend properly securing my systems / networks!
Thanks it is very helpfull.
